Abstract
The chemical composition of 19 pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan) lines, which are known as donors for various disease and pest resistance traits, was evaluated during 1995-96. The difference in various chemical parameters (protein, carbohydrate, Ca, P and Fe contents) and in seed energy value indicated a high genetic variation among the lines. Information on the chemical composition of these lines will be useful in combining disease and pest resistance with crop yield and quality attributes in new pigeon pea lines to be developed for cultivation
