Trials in Orissa revealed that the Sorghum hybrids CS1 and CS2 and the variety Swarna (1) yield 45-50 q grain and 80-120 q fodder as a main crop and 30-35 q grain and 60-70 q fodder as a ratoon crop, and (2) give maximum yields with a between-row and a within-row spacing of 45 and 12 cm, respectively, providing a population of 1.5-1.8 X 106 plants/ha; Swarma yielded more than CSH1 with denser populations
