A two-year study was conducted to compare the yield/returns of M-13 variety of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea), grown pure and in association with PHB-14 variety of bajra (Pennisetum typhoides) on a low-fertility loamysand soil under irrigated conditions. The yield of groundnut intercropped with bajra was significantly reduced as compared with that grown pure. However, the combined gloss returns of the two crops were significantly higher at an inter-row spacing of 150-180 em and the north-south direction of the rows of bajra. Spacing and orientation of bajra rows other than the above proved to be disadvantageous.
